nā hoa o ka hale hōʻikeʻike kauai

Aloha mai kakou,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and well. On behalf of the Kaua`i Museum, we would like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you, our cherished members, for your endless support and dedication.

Throughout the turbulence and uncertainty of this past year, you held steadfast in your commitment to preserving the history and the culture of our islands, making it possible for our institution to endure.

Kaua`i Museum remains equally dedicated to our mission and with your support, we have continued to work tirelessly towards improving and expanding our exhibits. The closures and circumstances of this pandemic have been difficult on all of us, but we were determined to continue moving forward in the hope of brighter days ahead.

We took this opportunity to work on a number of projects that would have been nearly impossible to accomplish while still servicing the public on a full-time basis. The ongoing development of our Surfing, Paniolo, and Plantation Village Exhibits continue to evolve; along with the mo’olelo or stories of pre-contact Kaua’i and Ni’ihau.

The most exciting of these endeavors is the newly completed Exhibit Center which will feature traveling exhibits and our own treasured collections of pre-contact kapa and Hawaiian quilts!

We eagerly anticipate the day when we may welcome all of you to the grand opening of this new center, as none of this would have been possible without your support. We humbly offer a mahalo to Maryanne Kusaka, Rep. James Tokioka, Senator Ron Kouchi, and contractor Paulo Preitauer for their dedication and support in making this project a reality.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff of the Kaua`i Museum, I humbly offer a heartfelt mahalo nui loa to all our members and supporters.
