Coconut Weaving Workshop 1

This 4-hour class is an introduction to the coconut tree, with information on the different aspects of the coconut tree, form the fruit, the truck, and the leaves.  There will be hands-on instructions in the weaving of the traditional bowl,  a cylinder bowl, a lightning bolt, and a fish ion a pole. Included will be an instructional DVD that will cover the weaving projects. Tools and supplies included.

Eugene Onio Punzal is a Cultural Weaving Practitioner here at the Kaua`i Museum. Having been an instructor of Coconut Basketweaving for close to 30 years, he has finally created workshops that he will be conducting at monthly sessions at the Kaua`i Museum.

As part of a Cultural Outreach Program of the Kaua`i Museum, Uncle Onio does free 45-minute demonstrations to any schools here on the island. Please contact us for more information about these free demonstrations, at (808) 245-6931.
